In the spring of 2002 a group of young women felt the need to be a part of an organization which represented every positive aspect of being a woman. After relentless research, they luckily discovered Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Incorporated. As they learned more about the organization, they realized that Lambda Theta Alpha focused on women, regardless of creed or ethnicity. Their principles of unity, love, and respect matched the criteria of what they looked for in an organization. Being the first latina sorority to ever be established was something that they knew was prominent.
Shortly after these lovely women became The Interested Ladies of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Incorporated in the Fall of the year 2002. As a group, they completed more than 600 hours of community service and collected more than 450 canned goods for the homeless during their November food drive. By putting in hard work and dedication, they were the recipients of the Sam Houston State University Sammy Award for Best New Organization 2002-2003.
On June 8, 2003, Sam Houston State University became the sixty first established chapter of Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority Incorporated. Thus, it was given the name of Gamma Xi Chapter.
A decade later we have 14 lines of lovely ladies that have given back to the community, gained national recognition, and are changing the world.
However without the following eight lovely ladies Gamma Xi chapter would not exist.
